VE Day - May 2020

You'll probably all remember VE Day this year, we were in lockdown and people couldn't celebrate VE Day as they'd have liked to. However, Michelle Ward organised a Stay at home street party, picnics were made and delivered to the vulnerable and elderly in our town and everyone was invited to picnic in their front gardens. This would not have been possible without the help of The Swan Hotel in Harleston and allowing us to use their facilities as well as helping prepare everything. Vicke Eke, Sue Croft, and a few other volunteers worked hard all morning making up picnics to deliver around the town.

Meat for the sandwiches was kindly donated by Pepperells Meats. Cakes, Bread, and fruit were kindly donated by Harleston Garage. Party plates, flags, and kids lunch boxes were kindly donated by The card and Party Shop. Other Cakes and savories were lovingly homemade by Carol Wiles, Sue Croft, and others. Also, Morrisons in Diss donated drinks, chocolate, crisps, and other packed lunch bits. Not forgetting the fabulous convoy of decorated cars led by Lizzy Pegg.

Apologies if we have missed anyone, everyone who helped and donated on that day and those who decorated their front gardens made VE Day the fantastic day it was. Thank you to everyone.
